Microstock tips for better photo sales!
Tip #4 The most important tip that I can give to anyone selling their pictures is to realize that each of the agencies have different standards in their purchasing requirements. Just because one micro stock agency turns down an image, doesn’t mean that it won’t sell at another. I have had dozens of images rejected for “poor photography” that have sold many times at other sites. Just keep uploading your photos to as many different agencies as you can, and you will begin to see a pattern in the type of pics they want to sell for you.
Tip #3 Join as many agencies as you can! Some buyers join only a few companies. In order to make sure your photos are sold to them, you have to have your portfolio in front of them. It costs you nothing to join these sites, as you already know, so you should try for as much exposure as you can!
Tip #2 - Develop a photography niche. You might notice a pattern to the types of photos you like to take. Focus on developing that area, and you will find more companies buying your photos because they know to come and check your portfolio first for the style of photo they need.
Tip #1 - Expand your niche. Once you have a niche market of photos that you sell, why not try and expand it? If you find yourself taking a lot of truck pictures you can try to use those to get into other markets on the micro stock photography sites. Try taking pictures of trucks at Christmas time. How about a truck at the beach? By taking your niche into other areas, you can keep your photo sales strong and add additional sales that you might not have had.
